Tyre Pressures - Tips and Info for Maintaining the Correct Tyre Pressure on Your Vehicle

It's essential that the correct air pressure is maintained in your vehicles tyres, it not only helps preserve the life of the tyre, but it also ensures that the vehicle’s handling isTyre Guage predictable and keeping the driver safer.

Having the wrong pressures in your tyres can cause the vehicle to handle dangerously which in turn could cause an accident.

Having tyres which are over inflated will result in a smaller road contact area, as the centre of the tyre will become enlarged. This causes rapid tyre wear and very poor handling.

Having tyres which are under inflated and below the optimum pressure, will again cause poor handling and much higher fuel consumption, thats because there is much more drag from the vehicles tyres.

Your tyres are the only contact between the car and the road, it's essential that they are in good condition and have the are pressures set correctly.

In your car owner’s manual it will state the recommended tyre pressures for your vehicle. If you don't have a manual contact your local tyre dealer and they can advise you.

Vehicles travel over many bumps and are subjected to many variations in the road, including heat, water and other external forces, so the pressures can change.

It's highly recommended to check your tyre pressures every week for maximum safety.
Make sure you always check the tyre pressure when the tyres are cold as it is natural for the pressure to increase from prolonged driving.

If you are carrying extra weight in your vehicle or towing, check in the owner’s handbook to see what pressure is recommended to cope with the extra weight of the vehicle but once again if you don't have a manual check with your local tyre service.
